My name is Tammy Borunda and I am a resident of Arlington, TX where I live with my husband and son. I attended Dallas Baptist University and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration. I later attended Texas A&M Commerce where I earned my MBA.
My son is three years old and has been trained with ISR since he was 11mos old. Even when I was pregnant with him I was concerned with aquatic safety. I knew I needed to get him trained in order to protect him from becoming another victim of drowning. I searched and searched and couldn't find a program that would protect him immediately. With most programs, children are not fully trained in aquatic safety until they are at least three years old. Once I found ISR I knew I had to get my son involved once he was 6mos old.
Soon I found out that the nearest ISR instructor was over 25 miles away. With my work schedule I knew I wasn't going to be able to get my son to lessons in time. However, soon it didn't matter. I felt so strongly about the program that I decided to train as an ISR instructor. In 2007, I stopped working and went through the six-week training to become an ISR instructor. This decision was one of the best ones I have ever made for both myself and my family. Now I am happy to train children in both Tarrant and Collin County.
To date I have had the pleasure of training almost 300 children. Three of these children have successfully saved themselves in an aquatic emergency without the assistance of an adult. To hear the voice of a mother who is crying while thanking me for the trainings because they found their child floating face up in water is very moving and emotional. It is something that will bring anyone to tears. With ISR and the training we provide you can help us reach our mission that Not One More Child Drowns.
